It will be interesting to see if hydrogen hyper cars start being the face of sports car racing . I think for now Porsche is committed to Formula E and happy to continue to develop and support the 911 efforts around the world . But being a major player in the performance arena I could see them being lured back to an LMP1 type effort .

I am sure the Porsche - Audi - Bentley - Lamborghini conglomerate will not sit back and watch other manufacturers run around with the spotlight and not want part of the action. The trick is which of the marques with they present. Porsche Audi and Bentley all have long ties to Le Mans. Lambo has some history as well.
Hydrogen will all be a huge smoke and mirrors, look a squirrel! gimmick to make them able to say the race is all green. They will not delve into the facts that to make the hydrogen they use a lot of electricity, or make it from hydrocarbons just like gasoline.
