Well boyzzz,
I have some bad news for ya.
Looks like somewhere in this thread something went wrong, and you idiots didn't catch it.
The ticking noise I've had since rebuilding the engine (covered a page or two back) has had me so concerned my car has remained largely undriven. I barely have 500 miles on the engine rebuild. Which is now almost 3 years old.
I tried setting my valves tighter than I thought, looser, and exactly right. But never succeeded in getting rid of the noise.
Recently I said F'it and just tore the engine apart. Nothing is hitting me over the head indicating the root cause of the problem. There are obvious signs of major problems, but I can't figure out THE MAJOR PROBLEM that caused the signs. I'm still not sure where I went wrong. Working on diagnosing it over on the engine rebuild forum in the thread
Disaster Strikes; What went wrong
I'm wondering if the bearing shuffling wear I had on the backside of my bearings could have something to do with my ongoing problems.
Anyway if you have some thoughts or ideas, I'd love to hear them here or over in the engine build forum. The turbo forum is more of a brotherhood than this rest of this place, so I just wanted to let you guys know where I stand on things.
Hopefully I'll be burning rubber soon. In the meantime get out and enjoy so 1 bar pulls for me.
