Dwell is 'on' time - measured in degrees relative to number of cylinders firing degrees. V- 8 you should see 30 degrees of points dwell ( optimum )
If I remember correctly, point dwell degree numbers climb ( optimal ) VS # of cyls decreasing.
You refer to your veh manual or other good source for 4cyl dwell spec. Then research your Fluke for reading that. The red lead will attach to the primary point side of ignition coil, the other to good engine ground
