Every employee is entitled to some sick days. If you are that vital to the company, you need a
huge raise. If they can't survive without you for a week, they need to hire some additional employees that can help you.
I was a main employee at my old photolab job. I was called for Jury duty. The judge was even a client of ours, and we knew each other. He had one simple question, do you make over a 1/4 million per year. I was not even close to that for my salary. He said you will be on a jury, and go sit down and wait. I doubt the company I worked for ever made 1/4 million in net profits in a year. It did not matter to him. I was off work for 4 days doing very little but waiting and reading.
