When I was 12 Dad installed a lot of ceiling fans on Satirdays.. Ceiling fans were a new thing back then, and mostly for people from his day job and their friends. I got to be his attic crawler to pull the romex wiring. Usually tacked a 2x4 across the joists to hang the fan from.

Never had or added a ceiling fan in our own house though.

Current house had one in the middle of the living room. It was silly small, it only had an 18in diameter fan. Replaced it with a normal sized one that matches the decor much better. Have only used it when the A/C went out.

Added a ceiling fan to the bedroom my brother with MS used. He used it all the time. His was the only room on the west side of the house amd would be 5°F warmer than the rest of the house. Ended up putting a window A/C unit in his room.

Also added a ceiling fan to the garage so a little space heater would warm the whole garage in winter to keep temps above freezing.
