If it were me....instead of butting the nose of my truck up to Fred's tail end....with my azz hanging out....I would have parked in the exact fashion as Fred - but two (to two hundred) spaces over.
In fact I have found a lot of pleasure in parking as far away from the general public as mechanically possible.
