So drove an '07 Carrera
Spent an hour in the car. Very clean, 53K miles, well maintained. Tan interior, which was meh (according to wife), but overall a solid well presented car. Fit check was OK once I got the seat adjusted and actually had to move the seat forward, but it was down all the way. Headroom was similar to other sunroof cars I have driven from the 80s, less than my 70E. Base Carrera with exhaust mod, nice sound, pulls well, clutch is nice, much improved over my 915 70E mix master. So far so good.
Like most everything about the car, but I long for the simple dash controls for air and radio. I hate everything about the location and controls for anything, and the lack of volume etc. for the radio when driving. So apparently in my 14 year hiatus, I have become a pampered weeny in my E350. Driving the car, I realized that I will HAVE to drive a 997.2 to see if I like that any better, and if not, will have to either go to a plan B (E63 Mercedes etc...) or go back to the 80s baby, with the new wave sound and parachute pants. And I am going to call on the Targa this afternoon.
The larger question I need to resolve is going back to a manual transmission. I know longer live where I have back roads to and from our facility. I am stuck in 40 minute stop and go both ways and I imagine I may learn to hate that drive.
Cool car - and the hunt goes on.
