Haven't posted in ages, but the time finally came to send the old 924S to the big garage in the sky. It was running and driving fine, just had too many rusty falling apart chassis infrastructure type problems and just wasn't worth spending any more time on around other projects I already have going. The shell is long gone scrapped, so I don't have anything other than what is posted here. Everything has been kept indoors in climate control.
All prices are negotiable...make me a reasonable offer. I need my space back and would rather give back to the 944 crowd than ebay. I have a few other odds and ends I will add later.
Parts are located in ZIP 22810.
Shipping is not included for the larger items. Please PM me and we can work it out. I can deliver to a location or freight depot or meet somewhere with my engine crane to help transfer into your vehicle. I'll travel a reasonable distance for a fee depending on distance if necessary. I'll drive up to an hour or so from 22810 each way no charge, and probably about $30 per extra hour each way after that. Any freight arrangements are responsibility of the buyer. Cash or Paypal.
If you are interested in multiple items, I'll cut a combo deal. Just PM me.
- 2.5L 8V mostly long block motor ---

This engine is the product of this rebuild thread with about 70k miles added on.

Motor ran great before pulled. Rebuild was 100% complete with all new bearings, rings, full balance on the entire rotating assembly, and a custom in house Alusil reconditioning detailed in the thread. Missing throttle body, injectors, fuel rail, and the speed/reference sensors and oil filler got broken, but otherwise complete. Did new oil cooler seals right before I called it quits on the car and drove on them ~50 miles and they didn't leak. No smoking or noises. Good oil pressure. Oil consumption was around 1qt/2000 miles, still has plenty of life left. Oil was changed religiously every ~5k with 40 or 50 weight synthetics. Includes cast exhaust manifolds, flywheel, clutch, and notched bellhousing. The pressure plate strap springs are rusted out shot, but the rest of the clutch should be in good condition. It worked fine when pulled. The engine is actually an '86 block, but still has the original 87 head and cam assembly from the old engine it replaced. It does not have the ported head shown in the thread. I have had to fix a weeping headgasket due to a failed cooling fan switch about 15k mi ago and just threw the old head on because I didn't have time to get the ported head checked/shaved. It has been 100% fine since then. The ported head is available separately with a good set of valves for $200 if interested. Engine block code is M44/07 43F01703
- 5 speed open diff transmission, short 5th gear....$150
Transmission code QK 09117. Shifted great with no grinds or noises. Has about 140k miles on it. It was off ~40k mile wrecked car and I put about 100k on it mostly highway miles with oil change every ~30k. Only problem is it leaks on the output shaft seals. I have just replaced the seals before pulling it and they still leaked. Probably just seal wear grooves on the output drive flanges. Swap in some better output flanges or build a short 5th tranny with the guts. The Euro short 5th gear is a lot better gearing at higher speed than the USDM overdrive 5th, and also is a must have if you're into spec racing. I have shipped one of these regular FedEx before and it was about $100, so that is an option. Will also deliver. PM for a quote.
Engine and trans combo deal $400 plus delivery! They have been living in my climate controlled basement shop and I want my space back, lol.
- 87 DME with 28 pin Russel Berry 91 octane chip...
$200 for both, $150 for the chip separately, $100 for the DME with original stock chip reinstalled. Price includes Priority mail shipping. Sold
I don't have a photo handy of the chip in the DME, but can get one on request. The DME crimp tabs have but so many re-crimps left in them, lol. The Russel Berry tune is a pretty noticeable improvement over stock and was one of the best changes I made to the car.
- Box-o-coolant hoses -
$20 shipped. Free with engine delivery. Sold
924S upper and lower radiator hose, overflow tank main and vent hoses. Still in decent useable condition.
- Starter motor $20 shipped
- K&N stock replacement air filter $20 shipped. Excellent condition. Has been serviced only a couple of times.
- Cat deleted exhaust mid pipe, rear muffler pipe (minus muffler)...
Shipping + $20 for my time to box them up. Free with engine delivery. Just pay shipping with performance chip purchase. Sold
Rear muffler and stainless tail pipe in photos has been repurposed already, but the rest of the pipe is available great for a quick easy custom muffler project. I had a Flowmaster super 44 muffler on it and it was the perfect sound. Mid pipe adds a touch extra top end to the Russel Berry tune, as the tune was originally developed on a test pipe.
