I cannot remember what changed immediately after 9-11 , but I just checked again and a student visa is needed to study flying , and must be obtained before you arrive in USA . And you don’t get approval until you arrive so could travel all the way here and start training then get refused !!

But that isn’t applicable to me .

Looking at it right now , it seems the only thing stopping me is I don’t have a passport !!!

Not sure how easy that will be to sort out , and I think my original thinking might have been that it’s easier to wait until I become a citizen than apply as a resident .
