AKA "pigging" a line. Done in pipelines and refineries a lot.
They send a pig down the line using hydraulic pressure, and the pig is sized and designed so that it cleans stuff out of the pipe.
they even have smart pigs that can take pictures, sent out signals of location, measure and record wall thickness of miles of pipe at a time, etc. Pretty friggin neat.
