I get your point and you are right. I was just thinking of the idea of enhanced passing being helpful at least for the fans. If the car behind can't get it done, they are in the picture trying. It looks like someone is holding a race instead of a parade.

NASCAR fooled around with the aero package for the Fontana race a couple years ago. The result was something like 90 passes for the lead and over a 1000 passes combined amongst all drivers.

That was a bit over the top but it shows that tweaking sometimes gets positive results if even those results weren't predicted. It wasn't a plate race with the draft a 100 feet long and it wasn't a runaway by Kyle Busch. And no P2P or DRS.
