Yup. We used to get a guy every year at out local EAA fly-in who did this. Maybe even the same guy. I checked out his airplane early one morning, and it did indeed have a couple of sacrificial blocks fastened to dedicated hard points at each wing tip. They looked like blocks of chalk or something like that.
