I decommissioned the Command Unit today, removing its lettering, medical decals, and tragically, its lights, siren, and PA system. I must say, it was kind of fun to see how people reacted, but . . .
I came upon a car accident last week--a minivan full of mom and kids had rear ended a Honda Civic and both cars were pretty crushed. I stopped and asked if they needed help, and they said everyone was fine, and they had called 911. Then one of the kids pointed at my truck and said "He
is 911!" I think somebody mentioned this would happen, and it did. I made my explanations and left.
Won't happen again.
