Well my taillights were activating very late in the braking process. Basically they did not turn on until I was at the bottom of the braking process. My mechanic changed out the sensor on the master cylinder. It was an inexpensive part plus labor to change it out.

However since only one light is not working it could be a break in your wiring. I’m just offering up a possibility (guess).
