Must be a favorite color scheme: The age of this bike is one of its many attractive attributes.

The key is just a key, not some transmitter device that will lock you out of your own bike. I can hotwire this bike if I need to. If it starts to develop an issue it will not drop into a "limp mode" automatically, it lets me make the decision.

I can put gas in it without invoking an electrical latching mechanism. The electrical generation device (alternator) is bolted on top of the motor not buried in the depths of an engine/ transmission unit that, if disturbed, is unlikely to ever be the same again.

I can fix this bike myself. Do I have an issue with excess technology? You bet ya! I realize that compared to a KLR this is an advanced bike but an 1100S is at a tech level I can live with.
