Do it! It's a great time. I haven't been to a race there in many years.
Even as a local, I'd seriously consider camping on site. Game was over at about 10:30, we didn't get out of the parking lot till 3am. My cousin's house is less than 3 miles from there! We could've walked home quicker.
The races aren't much better. Just limited amount of roads to get out.
As a kid I worked Thunder Valley drag strip in concessions for a season.
