I doubt that Scott's (??) British expedition provoked an attack. It's hard to know of course but someone could go thru their old journals.

The rest of them could easily be caused by venturing into a calving area or looking like a seal.

The boat flips could be a boisterous teenager with no intent to harm too.

I do think it is criminal to confine an intelligent animal used to traveling hundreds or thousands of miles - wolves or orcas.
