The axles are unfortunate. Many guys aren’t willing to stand behind their work rebuilding these and for sure re-booting front axles is foolhardy because they are under more stress and might come back “clicking.” I would do boots on a rear axle for the type of tear you describe but with additional labor it comes close, especially if it’s not a manual trans. I’m not sure if we would warranty it for the same amount of time though.
Another issue that affects even low mile Boxsters are noisy rear wheel bearings, so maybe you got lucky there..

I could be wrong, but I don't think the boots are torn. I was under the car not that long ago and had a look around. That's how I knew about the boot. It's a 6spd 2008 Boxster S w/45k miles.
