A question about the pelican website/ spammers...
I'm throwing this out there for advice/ info.
I recently joined another website which uses the same format as pelican. It's for bikes, not cars. For new members, they require 10 post before a new member can post a picture, and limit new post (for that new member) to 5 a day.
I can't remember, does pelican have similar rules? It didn't seem like it did. Also- pelican seems to do a pretty good job at limiting spambots. If the site doesn't catch them, the regulars here sure do, in a quick and entertaining fashion.
The reason I ask is that the website is catching flack for their "requirements" (which aren't the end of the world requirements by any means). They mention they receive spam inundation levels that are off the charts. They are looking for feedback on how to improve the situation. They state their moderators are working around the clock to reduce spam. They are all volunteers.
Is there something that pelican does differently, or is this something we just don't hear about here that happens behind the scenes?
Thanks,
Ron
