Spam is usually about money. At some point they will try to get you to click on a link that's selling something.
Or they'll tell you a sob story and how you can help by sending money via PayPal.
(This happened recently with a guy claiming to be a business owner from Malaysia - His story may have been true but he asked for "donations.")
I have seen forum web sites bombarded with so much Spam that they effectively get shut down.
Imagine being a forum member for years, that forum gets targeted by multiple Spammers and it's relentless.
... Would you persevere with that site or find some other place to hang out?
