No. Born in 72. But I get all that. Obviously those days are gone and it’s too bad. I’ll keep watching so long as the engines burn liquid and the cars go fast
If there’s any complaint I have about NASCAR its that the cars are too slow. Once you get hooked on watching 230 mph cars, it’s tough to keep me interested. Fortunately NASCAR shows enough In-car footage to remind me that these guys have real balls and skill and the cars are definitely moving, even if only 170mph

There was a thing called sanctioned or the 500 car deal.
Detroit made these cars.
They had to make at least 500 to be able to be called a stock car and raced albeit they were a little different than a reg showroom car, they were close enough for testosterone and blood.
Hence the saying "win the race Sunday- sell the cars Monday."
Detroit was VERY involved.
