You’ll have to change cams if you go that route. The hydraulic ramps are different than solid.

I have a 993 and went the opposite direction. Given the amount of miles driven per year it does not seem like a heavy maintenance burden. It was the wise choice due to my new higher lift cams. I love the added mechanical sound. The hydraulics also seems inconsistent in valve clatter. Tells me they’re not always zero clearance as theory suggests. When you consider the oil pump pressure varies but valve spring pressure does not it makes sense as to the vagueness of it all.

Best of luck going down this path. It’s not something I’d endorse but I understand we all have different goals and objectives.
