Local elks lodge had them...a private club. Didn't see them in bars open to the public. There..if you were "in", the gambling was pinball, the non plunger style.
All seems kind of innocent today, with most states having lottery machines. Clever of them. The run the gambling, then collect taxes for their "service" of helping the gambling addict.

Interesting. When I was a kid, my dad's parents were in the "Moose Lodge" and I think may also have been part of the "Elks Lodge" too.
