I was asked to find three cars for this event. I was given little info on what it was about but was able to get some to join in. The RWB build would have been best but he had to back out.
Outlaw builds, backdates and updates have been part of Porsche culture for a long time. Jeff's 356 is a nice piece of work and Jerry's Speedster turbo has a lot of history and work put into it. He built countless outlaw, slope nose conversions back in the 90's. Walter's GT3 wasn't really what they were looking for but grabbed some attention.
Although I did not attend I was told the money and talent of these kids is outstanding. Not anything I would throw my money at but with attendance waning at the usual concours and other events they are trying to grab the younger generations interest and made an attempt. A very different culture than we usually see at a C&C or other club activities.
I don't see this as part of the Porsche or PCA's future as these kids aren't IMO the future buyers of a 992 or air-cooled 911. It is all about show and little about go. Although the interest and crowd drawn was apparently quite huge. I did learn these are all single kids making fair money usually living at home and dumping all their money into their cars. Money they will never be able to recoup.
