I'm sure the foil tape works great. My question is...why did the vastly experienced engineers at Porsche use foam in the first place?
I have the same problem and I can't get heat to blow out in the winter. My theory is that foam was used to allow for a gradual pressure change as the vent transitions from completely closed (when sealed tight with foil) to the open position. If it is sealed too tightly (with foil) will it put excessive strain (due to air pressure) and cause the damper control fittings to break? Did you have a problem with getting heat before?
