The original NSX had sales so slow the Honda just killed it. In 1998 just 303 for the year.

That is not a profitable car. They only sold 170 in 2018. Porsche sold almost 10,000 911s in 2018. Honda ain't going broke over NSX sales. Porsche has been the most profitable car company on the planet for many years. They never have a "sale" or rebate program to sell the cars.
There is a local GT2RS for sale that is just 100K over MSRP.
