I also had a guy bring back a set of brake pads complaining about them not working. When he pulled them out of the box, it took me a second to fathom what he'd done. He put the pads on with the pad material facing AWAY from the rotors towards the calipers. Both pads looked like someone had taken a round cookie cutter to the pad material. He got pretty sheepish when I pointed out that he'd put them on backwards.
