Everyone has their own level of tolerance and comfort with different surroundings.

Reminds me of threads we've had in OT discussing how dangerous Mexico had gotten.
Some folks say no way, never going there again.
Others argued that it is fine, a great place, and that the statistics are all wrong.
To each his own.
