Things are lots better now for cataract surgery.
The microscope (better), incision (smaller), instrumentation (smaller), native lens extraction (divided, emulsified and sucked out) and lens implant (folded for insertion through the smaller incision) all add up to markedly improved recovery and lower complication rates.
