Here's how you find out if a different airbox lid helps:

Take yours off and use some sort of straps to hold the filter in place. Then go out and drive hard. if you notice a difference (besides being louder) you have your answer. Unfortunately the louder intake noise may fool you into thinking it is actually faster, but hay, if you believe it, who cares if it's real or not? If it seems faster that's all that matters (unless you are racing another car).

I haven't done this test but IMO the CIS air sensor plate and throttle body are much more resrictive than the air box lid, I'd be surprised if there is any real measureable improvement.
