Chris, look at the stock filter and lid. Then ask yourself if a cone filter can provide as much flow. Where would you mount it? At the end of the air box cover snorkel? What advantage would that give you? The stock air box cover and filter are not a handicap for the CIS.
The air box work we've seen have been for intake noise or art. None have shown an appreciable (if any) performance gain.
