The net result is a few have messed it up for the many. Unintended consequences. Many males from my generation (I am retired) would interact with females in the work place much differently than we did. But guess what? THEY were just as bad! There is "playful" behavior, and i am sure there was and is inappropriate behavior, that which stepped/steps over the line.
