OK here goes...
A long time ago I worked as a registered nurse. A lady I had worked with for a few years was killed by a patient with mental health issues.
I knew the patient who did it before the incident and he had a history of violence.
She had young children and I knew her husband and when I heard about it I was devastated.
About 9 weeks after the killing I bumped into the guy that did it in an out patients facility for the criminally insane.
(He had been incarcerated since the incident. As far as I know he's still locked up.)
He looked at me and immediately said hello in a friendly manner. In his mind it was like nothing had happened.
You don't really get over something like this.
