I had the same idea as everyone else. Save that little blue piece of strange plastic. It sounded so simple, so obvious.
And it is. Until you attempt to reload a spring clamp into it, that is!
Before you begin - Wear your safety glasses (maybe gloves, too). Get out every pair of pliers, vise grips, channel locks, vises, etc, you will need them all. Do it outside (you should probably stay away from pets and small children). If you do it on a wide driveway, the clamp will be much easier to find.
If you are really serious about your bottom AOS hose clamp buy a spare (or two), with the blue clip. Plan "C" (or "D")

or whatever. Buy a band style screw clamp and tighten it as tight as you can. I recommend a short-handled 5/16" nut driver.
