The Mazda RX7 engine worked very well. The rotary engine was almost bulletproof. It was heavier than the 912 engine and somewhat changed the weight ratio. The only problem was that it ran hot. The mechanic (Carl Monroe or Monroe's Machine Shop in Azusa) who did the work was awesome. Unfortunately, he died in a boating accident about 6 years ago. To solve the cooling problem, he was going to have to cut holes and run hoses to the front of the car for a radiator. At that point, I changed my mind because I did not want any permanent modifications. He ended up putting a 1835 VW engine with dual 40 IDF Webers in the car. It was alot of fun!
