I grew up just north of there but left in 1965 due to going in the US Navy, Didn't go back until 2003 for my high school reunion. It appeared to not have changed much on 40 years, traffic still bad in the summer, over priced tee shirts and swim suits and I don't think they even had a Walmart or a 7-11! The pace of Delaware as a whole is slower than CA where I live now and I could never move back there as there is still a lot of bigotry and people who wish segregation was still in effect!
During my time lots of famous people had beach houses, Dick Clack, Pres. Eisenhower, the Duponts, ETC. Many of those big houses were converted into a bed and breakfast when we went there in 2003 and I imagine it is the same now? A couple lives in part and the rest is made into 4 or 5 or more bedrooms and the income is nice. If you go south to Bethany or further towards the Indian River inlet the houses are all built high on poles to save them from huricanes but they have great views. If you move there you will end up changing and slowing down.
