My take.
I'm not sure that removing him from school because it's stressful and causing anxiety will help him when he reaches adulthood. I tell my kids "if you think school is hard, wait till you hit the real world"
Having said that, I know kids who are home schooled, participate in public school activities and are well adjusted.
My oldest did well in school but didn't like it. We found a psychologist that was really able to connect with her. Sometimes it just takes finding the right person to get the kid to open up. Ask around. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone easier for your child to open up to.
