Cousin is a Delta airline pilot. Regional Delta. He is out in a couple days as he's 65. Flew to Cle last night with his wife onboard and we had dinner.

He flew mainly C130's/C141's for the Air Force in the way back. I asked him if he had any close calls. He did and I am hoping for some clarity on this.

In Norway, 1980-ish, a string of C130's dumping paratroopers along with Norwegian aircraft doing same at 2000 feet. A show for King Olaf.

Plane in front had some kind of vortex off the wing tip that messed them up but I don't know terminology. Cousin was co-pilot. Pilot throttled back engines on one side and maxed the two on the other side fast. Their plane instantly nose dived and he said "There were windows, I could see the ground, I thought it was over" Pilot pulled out at 1,000 feet and swears he saved them all.

Cousin also talked about left side and right side wing tip vortex and what your supposed to do.

Help a layman understand.
