911 values - what's rarity/desire worth?

When figuring a fair value for a car (a 911), what is rarity or desireability worth? I know open cars are more desired, and therefore typically more expensive... but what about rarity? For example, the '89 Turbo Speedster - 800 or so made for US market, not sure about RoW, and they seem to command a premium. Is this a (turbo+open==$$) value, or is the fact that so few produced worth something as well?

I know in the world of 356s that rarity does have an affect on value - look at the gmund coupes, or late year Carreras, etc. for examples. But what about for 911s, and at what point does it kick in?
