Backseat sheetmetal replacement

I have cut my backseat out due to rust. The replacement panels for this area of the car are not currently being made by anyone and finding a donor for this section is not likely in this area.

The panels I have cut and fit are 18-20 gauge galvanized. I hesitant to weld this stuff becuase I think this area is too confined to be burning galvanized metal in. I can pull them out of the car and weld them at the seams, no problem. I just dont want be breathing the fumes from this stuff in the confines of the car.

Would it be a bad idea to rivet these panels in place instead of welding them?

I know this area is supposed to be non structural. The rivets would be easy to drill out in the future when/if the replacement panels are available. The whole area is also going to be covered in carpet.
