I get your point.
I'm pretty sure an actuarial table would put the value of the ugly old lady at significantly less than the 16 year old. They do put relative values on people's lives.
Several years ago my good friend's daughter was killed in a crosswalk by a driver who wasn't paying attention. My friend sued him, but dropped the suit in disgust when his lawyer said, "Too bad it wasn't her brother. Boys are worth a lot more in court than girls."
That may have changed some as women's wages and career opportunities have improve in the past 40 years, but still ....
