In the Concorde's case, the upgrades to the gas tank addressed part of that defect, rupture from overpressure when the tire debris impacted but still, the proximity to a source of ignition was the big unsolvable issue. In the current crop of electric cars, given the fuel tank is distributed "everywhere", any impact is that more likely to reach it and be a source of ignition. The design for range is at the expense of safety, interesting parallels here between the two.
