Part of any family gathering has been keeping the kids entertained and out from under foot. The TV is on for football only, which doesn't entertain two energetic teenage boys for long.
I had them haul in a cord of firewood before dinner to take the edge off.
It has become a tradition (5 years now) to get out the two man slingshot and launch produce into the distance. That entertains them for a while. I get half a bushel of deer apples and they launch them out over the ravine. Fortunately they have an uncle and a stepdad who are young at heart and they all get out there have a great time launching produce. This year we had some hedge apples too, which
really fly - a good 50 yards.
