DONE - thanks all for the ideas - i already had a wood crate from 914Ltd which was heavy & stout - trans bolted in on both ends
- decided to use that - 18x18x27" - 116 lbs total wt
UPS wanted it surrounded by cardboard and preferably stuffed with packing mat'l - 2-day ground ship cost was $160 insured for $1000
fwiw - the associated shift rods & fork & new bushings package went into a separate long box (of course) 42x 7-1/2 x3-1/2", 9 lbs
from NorCal to SoCal
- seek opinions on best way to do that (it is CLEAN & empty)
- will UPS (or other) accept & ship it bare with a label on a tag, or does it need to be boxed and/or crated?
TIA
