AppleTV -
Have it on ethernet wired network and connected to TV with HDMI. TV is 9 year old 65" Sony Bravia. TV sound outputs to my Sony receiver for surround sound. My AppleTV is 1080P not 2K, but so is my TV.

Cut the cord for two reasons. I am cheap and too many remotes. Purchased an app that installs and updates KODI on AppleTV and have exodus remix add-in to watch network TV and movies. Very few shows/movies have not found. Spend most of my TV time watching the AppleTV's built in Youtube player. Have an antenna on the TV, but never watch it because all the commercials put me to sleep. Considered a box for $99 that feeds over the air Antenna thru home network to an AppleTV app, but hooked up the TV's antenna and it had way to many commercials. So didn't bother.

Really like using just one remote. The AppleTV remote controls everything. When I had Cable it took 3 remotes. It is convenient sleeping and waking the AppleTV and it also sleeps/wakes the TV/receiver. Have not got into the games or apps or even Siri.

Can stream or mirror iPhone, iPad, or Macbook thru the AppleTV to the TV. It also accesses itunes libraries/iCloud.

You can rent/buy movies and tv shows in the TV app with appleID account. Same prices as cable's on-demand. Same with games, apps, and music. With the AppleTV anything you rent/buy you can watch on any Apple device.
