That appeared to be a problematic engine, and an underwhelming one in terms of performance. Not sure what Nissan was thinking adopting it, when the reliable six cylinder Cummins engine has been going strong for so long.
Although, I wouldn't buy one of the modern diesels for a regular driver unless that driving involved towing on the highway most days. Folks are having a fit with active regen/DPF issues, real world mileage etc. in draconian emissions states when using these trucks as a regular household driver. I looked at them hard but went with a gas engine truck.
