Yeah, I think the only way to own one today is to be in a state without intense emissions laws, and gut the add-on systems. I hear horror stories about running and reliability issues guys are having now.
Between this, the supposed rise of EVs (still <2% of the market!) and the fallout from the VW scandal, the days of the diesel may be numbered.
That is too bad. My old BMW 335d had >400 ft-lb of torque. Pulled off the line like you wouldn't believe.
