I think it's just something in men that we're accustomed to being the helper, not being the one that needs help. My dad absolutely refuses to call me for help even though I'm self employed and could be there in 15 minutes if he needs me. Don't remember if you said how old you are or not but my dad is 80 so I'm thinking the problem doesn't get better with age.
