I tried to get my girlfriend in college to get an '89 5.0 LX. It was almost identical to my 85 GT in looks. She ended up with a Chevy Spectrum, which was a re-badged Isuzu I-Mark. Her mother made her buy an "American" car. And they were "Chevy" people.
I had the 5 speed manual. I bought it used in 1987 for about $8500.
