Not sure what’s driving you to the 2012 in particular but the transmission is the weak link from a performance standpoint.
My wife has the same 3.6 in her Pacifica and the transmission with a few extra gears makes a big difference.
I haven’t had any complaints about the build quality of my 2012 Grand Cherokee. Have had an expensive year on maintenance though. Some wtf items and another that was on me because of deferred maintenance albeit mine has 133,000 on it.
As has been stated the Durango is built on the same platform, just a longer rear overhang for the 3rd row in the Dodge.
